Look at the pretty!

Quite shiny, luv.

I have no clue how to make collages, but you might rival ye olde December Lady, if you keep going on this road!

Been reading that fic, eh? Yeah...about that...talk later...

My, but you *are* prompt, luv.

And putting this together has made me a tad homesick to boot ;)

*ah, how I love downtime + 'net, though*
*so rare*

Prompt? Well, yeah...usually.

As for net and downtime, I'm finally catching up my own self.

Making collages in Photoshop: one approach is to put multiple images into different layers in a single .psd, and then play around with transparency levels -- an alternate is to use the eraser tool, starting at a very low setting (5-10%) to 'wash out' the upper layer(s) and show the lower.

Make sure all images start out at the same resolution. Transitions can be handled with blurring, or with the cloning stamp plus blurring.

Once you have the image looking the way you want it, save the psd, then Save As --> to jpeg.

I'm pretty sure you both saw the 'Widowmaker' wallpaper I did -- each of the screen caps started out in a different layer.

Once again, gorgeous work, LPFF!

*bows before the genius of the beth*

I know a bit of the layer thing and transparency thing, but I don't know much (ok, anything) about blurring, erasing, cloning, etc. And those brushes you can download...way over my head.

I'll get there one day, though.

Don't know nuthin' bout no downloadable brushes . . . the ones I mentioned are part of Photoshop straight up out of the box. Do you have Photoshop, or one of the other programs instead? I'm sure Photoshop Elements has the blur and erase tools; it might not have the cloning stamp (which allows you to copy bits of an image and paint them into another location).

I have Photoshop Elements. It does have blur, erase, and clone.

I just haven't played with them yet.

But I do know you can download custom brushes and other such things, and you can make your own, too. One of my favorite wallpapers says 'photoshop brushes downloaded from nocturna.net' in the corner. (It's my Jack Sparrow default wallpaper, which is pretty much up all the time.)

So yeah, layered, transparency and a little artistic erasing. I should have had, I think, the Zoe level not be the background but a different layer, because I would have liked to play with it a little more. The beeyotch that took way too much time was fixing a bit of the background to blot out another thing on Zoe's frame. I really like the pink glow that extended to that side after all the select/ copy/ paste and merge down and blur (rinse, repeat!) were done. Next time I think I would either have played with the clone stamp thingie and/ or put them both over a background and erased both things I wanted gone.

I understand completely. It took me forever to make my DL icons. Not the TLG one, but the other two. Red and white stripe layer over a white background, then the image, then the text, font style/size/color, opacity...these thing happen.

But it's all good.

Oh, and just so you know, this is my wallpaper right now. It replaced my holiday one of DL's The Natural collage. (I have Jack for about ten months of the year, a few others here and there, and DL and Zatherran for the holidays-loves me my M/S.)
